Import Teacher Lists lets you copy word lists from another teacher's account directly into your Custom Word Lists — no files needed. You'll need the other teacher's registered email address, and their groups must be set to Shareable before you can find them.
Step 1: Go to Word Lists
- From your Teacher Dashboard, click Word Lists in the left sidebar.
Step 2: Open the Custom Word Lists tab
- At the top of the page, select the Custom Word Lists tab.
Step 3: Click Import Teacher Lists
- In the top toolbar, click the Import Teacher Lists button. A dialog box will open.
Step 4: Search for the teacher
- In the Teacher's email field, type the exact email address of the teacher whose lists you want to import (e.g., "colleague@school.com").
- Click Search lists.
- If the teacher has Shareable groups, their available word lists will appear below, organized by group.
Step 5: Select the lists you want
- Under Available word lists, expand a group to see the individual lessons inside it.
- Check the box next to each lesson you want to import. To select all lessons in a group at once, use the Select All checkbox at the top of that group.
- When you're done selecting, click Import Selected Lists.
Step 6: Choose where to import and confirm
- A second dialog opens with three options. Select the one that fits your needs:
- Keep original group names — creates new groups in your account using the same names as the source teacher's groups.
- Import into an existing group — adds the selected lists into one of your current groups. Use the dropdown to choose which group.
- Import into a new group — creates a single new group for all selected lists. Type a name for it in the field that appears.
- Click Import. A confirmation message will appear and the page will reload with your new lists ready to use.
Pro Tip: Before searching, ask the source teacher to open their group settings and set Privacy to Shareable — their lists won't appear in search results if they're set to Private.
Q: Can I import lists from a teacher outside my school? A: Yes, as long as you have their exact registered email address and their groups are set to Shareable.
Q: Will my imported lists update automatically if the original teacher edits theirs? A: No. Imported lists are independent copies — any changes the source teacher makes after the import won't affect your version.
Q: What if I search a teacher's email and no lists appear? A: This can happen for two reasons: the teacher hasn't created any word lists yet, or their groups are set to Private. Ask them to check their group's Privacy setting and switch it to Shareable.
