Each word in your list can be enriched with definitions, example sentences, synonyms, antonyms, and distractors. These fields power many of the platform's activities and tests.

How to Customize Word Details

Step 1: Open the word list editor

• Go to Word Lists and select the Custom Word Lists tab.
• Click Manage Words on the group card.

Step 2: Select the list and find the word

• Click on the list in the left sidebar. Your words appear in the editor on the right.

Step 3: Edit the word fields

• Click on any word to expand its details. You can manually fill in the following fields:
• Definition – the word's meaning
• Sentence – an example sentence using the word in context
• Synonym – a word with a similar meaning
• Antonym – a word with the opposite meaning
• Distractors – incorrect answer options used in multiple-choice activities

Step 4: Generate with AI

• Instead of filling fields manually, click the AI button next to any word.
• Vocab Loco automatically generates definitions, sentences, synonyms, antonyms, and distractors for that word.

? Pro Tip: Adding distractors improves the quality of multiple-choice activities. Include words that are commonly confused with the target word for best results.

Q: Do I have to fill in every field?
A: No. Only the word itself is required. The other fields are optional but highly recommended — they unlock more activity types and improve the learning experience.

Q: Can I use AI to fill in fields for all words at once?
A: You can generate fields word by word using the AI button on each word. Bulk AI generation is available through the Generate with AI option in the group header.
