If you already have word lists prepared — in a spreadsheet, a text file, or another format — you can import multiple lists into Vocab Loco at once instead of creating them one by one.

How to Import Word Lists in Bulk

Step 1: Go to your group

  • Go to Word Lists and select the Custom Word Lists tab.
  • Click Manage Words on the group card.

Step 2: Click Add Lists in Bulk

  • In the group header, click Create New List.
  • Choose Add Lists in Bulk from the options.

Step 3: Choose your import method

  • Paste data tab — paste your lists directly into the text box.
  • Upload file tab — upload a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file.

Step 4: Format your data correctly

  • Each list must follow this format, one list per line:
  • LIST NAME, word1, word2, word3
  • Example:
  • Lesson 1 – Short A, cat, bat, map, the, and
  • Lesson 2 – Short I, sit, pig, lip, is, it
  • Lesson 3 – Short O, dog, hot, top, on, not

Step 5: Preview and save

  • A preview table appears showing how your data will be imported.
  • Review it and click Save to confirm.

? Pro Tip: Prepare your lists in a spreadsheet first, then save or copy as CSV. This is the fastest way to import an entire semester's vocabulary in one go.

Q: What file types are supported for upload?
A: You can upload .csv, .tsv, or .txt files. Make sure each line follows the format: LIST NAME, word1, word2, word3.

Q: What happens if my format is wrong?
A: The preview table will show how the data was read. If something looks off, go back and adjust your file or pasted text before saving.
