Every Vocab Loco ready-made list has a cover designed to help you identify its content at a glance. The Cover Identity System uses a consistent structure, color coding, and visual elements across all list types, so you can quickly find the right list without reading every title.

Understanding the Vocab Loco Cover Identity System: each cover uses a color-coded category badge, a subcategory type label, a main title, a visual icon, and a colored wave — all in a consistent layout so teachers can identify any list type at a glance.

How to read a cover

Every cover follows the same layout, with seven elements always in the same position:

  • Category Badge — the top label that identifies the main category (Vocabulary, Spelling, Publisher, Themed, or Holiday).
  • Type (Subcategory) — a colored pill below the category badge that specifies the list type (e.g., Grade Level, Reading Level, Rules, Bee, Journeys).
  • Main Title — the primary identifier, such as a grade (3rd Grade), a Lexile range (415L–760L), or a theme name (Halloween).
  • Visual Icon — an icon that reinforces the list type at a glance.
  • Colored Wave — a decorative wave at the bottom whose color matches the category.
  • Decorative Pattern — a subtle background texture that adds visual depth.
  • VL Ownership Mark — the Vocab Loco logo mark in the bottom-right corner of every cover.

Color-coded categories

Within each category, the subcategory badge specifies exactly what kind of list it is:
