The Grades Report gives teachers a complete view of student performance across all activity types — vocabulary, spelling, typing, writing, and special activities. Use it to track grades over time, spot trends, and identify students who may need extra support.
Availability: The Grades Report is available to Teachers, Super Users, and Resource Teachers.
Step 1: Go to the Grades Report
- From your Teacher Dashboard, click Reports in the left sidebar.
- On the Reports hub, click the Grades card. The report will load with your students' most recent activity.
Step 2: Set your filters
- Use the filter bar at the top to narrow down the results:
- Date range — choose a time period (Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or a custom range).
- Filter by Result — filter by Passed, Failed, or All (default).
- Type — filter by activity category: All, Vocabulary Activities, Spelling Activities, Typing Activities, Writing Activities, or Special Activities (Vocab Beats, Story Time and Poems).
- Filter mode — switch between By Students or By Groups.
- Student(s) — select one or more students, or leave blank to include everyone.
- Click Filter to apply your selections. The summary cards, charts, and table will all update.
- Enable Include other classes if you want to see activities your students completed in another teacher's class. A Teacher column will appear in the table to identify the source.
? Pro Tip: A grade is considered passed when it meets or exceeds your passing goal (default: 70%). You can adjust your passing goal in your account settings.
Step 3: Read the summary cards and charts
- Three summary cards give you a quick snapshot of class performance for the selected period:
- Grade AVG — the average score across all filtered results.
- Total Unique Students — the number of individual students included in the results.
- Most Performed Activity — the activity completed most often during the selected period.
- Below the cards, two charts help you visualize performance over time:
- Activities by Period (line chart) — shows how many activities each student completed across the selected date range.
- Word Lists with the Most Completed Activities (bar chart) — highlights the top 10 word lists by total activity count.
Step 4: Review the results table
- The table shows one row per completed activity, with the following columns: student name, list group, word list, activity, type, date, and grade earned.
- Use the Filter records search box above the table to find a specific student or word list quickly.
- Click Reorder by Last Name to sort the table alphabetically by student surname.
Q: Can I see grades from word lists I didn't assign? A: Yes. Enable the "Include other classes" toggle to show activities your students completed in other teachers' classes. A Teacher column will appear in the table to identify the source, and those rows will be displayed in italics.
Step 5: Export the grades report
- Use the export buttons above the results table to save or share the report:
- Copy — copy all table data to your clipboard.
- CSV — download as a CSV file.
- Excel — download as an Excel spreadsheet.
- PDF — download as a PDF (landscape) with the Vocab Loco logo and date.
- Print — open a print-ready preview of the report.
? Pro Tip: Filter by "Failed" and select a broad date range to quickly identify students who are struggling across multiple activity types — then use the Type filter to drill down by Spelling, Vocabulary, or Writing.
