How Students Use Vocab Beats in Vocab Loco

Vocab Beats is a music activity where you listen to a song and fill in the missing vocabulary words as they play. The better you know your words, the easier it gets — and finishing the activity earns you game coins and a confetti celebration.

Step 1: Open Vocab Beats in your lesson

• Inside a lesson, go to your Activities page and find the Vocab Beats card.
• Click it to open the activity. If the card shows Completed, you've already finished it — but you can still open it to listen to the song again.

Step 2: Get to know the page

• The page is split into two areas:
  • Left side — Song lyrics: The full song text is displayed here. Your vocabulary words are hidden and replaced with numbered placeholders in blue.
  • Right side — Music player and input fields: The player controls (Play, Pause, volume, timeline) stay fixed as you scroll. Below the player, you'll see a numbered input field for each hidden word in the song.
• The numbers in the lyrics match the numbers on the input fields — use them to know which blank you're filling.

Step 3: Click Play and follow the song

• Click the PLAY button to start the music. The album art will spin and the song begins.
• As each word is sung, the corresponding input field pulses to let you know it's time to fill that blank.
• Click any numbered word in the lyrics to jump directly to that point in the song.
• Turn on Auto Scroll to have the page follow along automatically as the song plays.
• Use the timeline bar to rewind or skip forward, and the volume slider to adjust the sound.

Step 4: Fill in the hidden words

• Type each missing word into its numbered input field on the right. How much of a hint you get depends on your level:
  • Level 1 — The full word is shown as a hint. Just listen and the field fills in for you.
  • Level 2 — Part of the word is shown (e.g., "bu*****"). Use the hint and the song to figure out the rest.
  • Level 3 — Only the first letter is shown (e.g., "b*******"). You need to spell the whole word from memory.
• When you type a correct word, the badge next to the field turns green and the word is revealed in the lyrics. If it's wrong, the badge turns red — keep trying.

Step 5: Finish the activity

• Once all the words are filled in correctly, a message appears: "Great job! You've filled all the words! ?"
• You can either listen to the rest of the song or click PAUSE to finish immediately.
• A success message will appear, confetti will burst across the screen, and your game coins will be added to your account.
• The Vocab Beats card in your lesson will update to show Completed.

? Stuck on a word? Click the numbered word in the lyrics to jump to that part of the song and listen to it again — hearing it in context makes it much easier to guess!
