How to Enable or Disable Word Swapper and Aquarium for Students

Word Swapper is a game-based activity where students swap boring words for powerful ones across themed adventure worlds. The Aquarium is linked to it — students earn fish by completing swaps. Both features are controlled by a single setting in your Customize Program.

Step 1: Go to Customize Program

  • From your Teacher Dashboard, click Customize Program in the left sidebar.

Step 2: Open the Settings tab

  • At the top of the page, make sure the Settings tab is selected. It is the first tab and opens by default.

Step 3: Find the Word Swapper setting

  • Look for the ? Word Swapper card on the Settings page. It contains a dropdown with the current status of the feature.

Step 4: Enable or disable the feature

  • Click the dropdown and select Enabled or Disabled. The change saves automatically — no need to click a Save button.
  • A confirmation toast will appear briefly confirming the change was applied.
? Pro Tip: There is no separate toggle for the aquarium. Enabling Word Swapper automatically makes the aquarium available to students — and disabling it hides both features at once.
Q: What do students see when Word Swapper is disabled? A: The Word Swapper widget on their dashboard becomes greyscale with a "Disabled" ribbon. The Word Swapper and My Aquarium links disappear from their sidebar. If they try to access the page directly, they'll see a message that the feature has been turned off by their teacher.
Q: Does disabling Word Swapper affect other features like Zoodle's House? A: No. Zoodle's House has its own separate setting in Customize Program and is not affected by the Word Swapper toggle.
