Word Swapper is Vocab Loco’s newest module that builds vocabulary one word at a time.

Students pick a word they use every day and swap it for a stronger, more powerful word. Through fun, hands-on activities and real-life conversation, they make the word stick.

Once mastered, they earn a Power Fish named after the word, a built-in daily review tool.

The goal ➡️ Swap a common word into a power word the student feels confident using, for life.

Let’s take a closer look and see Word Swapper in action.

Before beginning their vocabulary training, students are welcomed into a gamified experience.
This is the Word Swapper Map—a visual journey through themed worlds, each filled with levels and vocabulary challenges.

Every student begins in World 1: The Desert of Lost Words. As they complete activities, they unlock new levels and new worlds—motivating progress through a clear, rewarding path.

This engaging format turns vocabulary practice into an adventure.

Word Swapper is broken into six steps. Let’s begin.

Step 1: Student Ownership
The journey begins with student ownership.

Students start by choosing a boring word they often use in writing or conversation. This simple act gives them control over their learning, making it more personal and relevant.

They can filter words by two levels: Regular and Advanced.

If they don’t like the suggested Word Swap, they can preview others and choose the one that fits best.

When students start with a word that feels familiar, they’re more invested. And that’s when real learning begins.

Step 2: Visualize the Power of the Swap
Now it’s time to see the difference.

Students view their boring word side by side with its Power Word. They explore each word’s meaning and see how swapping the word changes the tone of a sentence.

This hands-on interaction makes the impact of vocabulary choices instantly clear.

Step 3: Practice Through Multi-Sensory Learning
Hear it. Say it. Write it.

Students pronounce each word, say it aloud, and write it by hand. This activates different learning pathways and boosts memory and understanding.

By combining sound, speech, and movement, Word Swapper makes learning stick.

Step 4: Crafting Sentences with AI Support
Now students put their Power Word to work by writing their own sentence.

As they write, AI provides real-time feedback to help them improve grammar, clarity, and word use.

It’s not just about knowing the word. It’s about using it naturally and confidently.

Step 5: Poetic Word Play
Next comes a fun twist—a playful poem featuring both the boring word and the Power Word.

As the poem is read aloud, students follow along visually, reinforcing how word choice changes mood and meaning.

It’s a creative way to build deep word connections through sight and sound.

Step 6: Power Word Missions
 Vocabulary meets the real world.

For the next three days, students use their Power Word in everyday conversations with friends, teachers, or family.

Each time they use it, they log who they spoke with and how the word was used.

These missions promote recall, boost confidence, and build real-world communication skills.

➡️The Fish Reward: A Memory That Swims With You
After completing their missions, students unlock a special reward—a digital Power Fish named after their word.

The fish lives in their aquarium, where it can be fed, played with, and revisited. Every interaction repeats the Power Word aloud, turning the fish into a tool for long-term memory.

Word Swapper is fun. It’s visual. It’s unforgettable. And most importantly, it works.

Word Swapper has been added to the student dashboard as a bonus feature—ready to explore like Word of the Day, but with even more power behind it.
