Writing Prompts give you a chance to practice vocabulary words in your own sentences and paragraphs. After you submit, your teacher reviews your writing and sends feedback — and you can revise and resubmit if needed.
Step 1: Open the Writing Prompt activity
- Inside a lesson, go to your Activities page and find the Writing card.
- Click it to open the Writing Modules page, where all available writing prompts for that lesson are listed.
- Each prompt card shows the prompt name and how many game coins you'll earn for completing it.
Step 2: Choose a prompt
- Click Use this prompt on the prompt you want to write about. The writing area will open with your selected prompt and the vocabulary words for that lesson.
- If you change your mind, click Back to Choose a Prompt to select a different one.
Step 3: Write your response
- Type your writing in the text box. Keep these rules in mind:
- You must include at least one word from the vocabulary list in your response.
- As you type vocabulary words, they will be highlighted in the word list to show they've been included in your writing.
- Click the ? icon next to any word in the list to see its definition.
Step 4: Submit your writing
- When you're done, click Submit. The system will check that your writing meets the requirements before sending it.
- If something is missing — like a vocabulary word or correct punctuation — an error message will explain what needs to be fixed before you can submit.
- Once submitted successfully, a confirmation message will appear and your writing will be sent to your teacher for review. You won't be able to edit it while it's waiting to be graded.
Step 5: Check your grade and feedback
- After your teacher reviews your writing, the activity card will update with your result:
- Approved — your writing was accepted. You'll see your grade and any notes your teacher left.
- Needs Redo — your teacher wants you to revise. Read the feedback, make your changes, and click Submit again.
- To see your full submission history for a prompt, click the View Attempts button (clock icon). You'll see every attempt with its date, status, teacher notes, and grade.
? If you see "Waiting for grade" on the activity card, your writing has been submitted and your teacher hasn't graded it yet. Check back later — you'll see their feedback as soon as it's ready.
