How to Analyze Word Lists with AI in Vocab Loco

Created by Vocab Loco, Modified on Thu, 14 May at 2:32 PM by Ace Turner

Vocab Loco's Word List Insights with AI helps teachers turn word list activity data into clear, actionable insights — without spreadsheets or manual analysis. With just a few clicks, you can analyze student performance, identify learning gaps, and generate targeted recommendations to support instruction and intervention.

Note: AI Analysis uses 1 AI credit per report. You will always see the credit cost and your current balance before confirming — credits are only used when you click Yes, Analyze.

Step 1: Open AI Analysis for a word list

  • From your Teacher Dashboard, go to Word Lists and open the Assigned Lists tab.
  • On the word list card you want to analyze, click the AI Analysis button (star icon).
Note: If students haven't completed enough activities on the list yet, a notice will appear asking you to wait for more data before running an analysis.

Step 2: Choose your analysis scope

  • Select how you want to run the analysis:
    • Entire Class Analysis — analyzes all students assigned to the word list.
    • Specific Students — lets you filter by grade, group, or search by name to select individual students.

Step 3: Select a report type

Choose the type of insight you want to generate. Reports are organized into three categories:

  • Class-Level Reports
    • Class Snapshot — complete overview of performance, gaps, activities, and suggested actions.
    • Intervention Overview — top priority students sorted by lowest progress who need attention.
    • Activity Insights — what's working vs. where students struggle by activity, plus a suggested mix.
    • Engagement & Coverage Audit — identifies gaps in activity coverage and provides quick fixes.
    • Equity & Progress Distribution — shows whether progress is balanced or if the class is splitting into groups.
    • Vocabulary Acquisition Speed — groups students by learning pace and provides adjustment recommendations.
  • Individual-Student Reports
    • Word Root Causes — identifies underlying spelling and vocabulary patterns causing errors.
    • Student Spotlight — individual mini-profiles with strengths, needs, and next steps.
    • Assessment Readiness — shows who is ready to assess, who needs more practice, and why.
    • Activity × Word Cross Insight — connects word difficulty to specific activities to pinpoint where learning breaks down.
    • Student Progress Summary — individual summaries ideal for parent-teacher conferences.
    • Word Retention Alert — identifies words students mastered but are now forgetting.
    • Activity Efficiency Report — evaluates which activities produce the best learning outcomes.
    • Struggling Word Patterns — groups challenging words by linguistic patterns and provides teaching strategies.
    • Test Performance Predictor — identifies students at risk of poor performance before they test.
    • Writing Integration Opportunities — finds words students have mastered and are ready to use in writing.
  • Parent Communication Reports
    • Parent Progress Summary — overall progress snapshot for general updates.
    • Parent Strengths & Growth — highlights achievements and areas for improvement, great for conferences.
    • Parent Home Support Guide — actionable suggestions for parents to help their child practice at home.

Step 4: Confirm and run the analysis

  • A confirmation screen shows the word list name, number of students, selected report type, credit cost, and your current AI credit balance.
  • Click Yes, Analyze to start. The AI will analyze student progress, engagement patterns, and performance metrics — this may take 30–60 seconds.

Step 5: Review and export your insights

  • Once complete, your report appears with detailed insights and recommendations.
  • Click PDF to download the report — useful for sharing with colleagues, administrators, or parents.
Pro Tip: Use the Intervention Overview regularly to catch struggling students early. Use Parent Progress Summary or Parent Home Support Guide to generate ready-to-share reports before conferences.
Note: AI insights are recommendations, not grades. Teachers remain in full control of how insights are used, and no student data is shared outside your account.
