Exploring and Assigning Individual Word Lists in Vocab Loco

Created by Vocab Loco, Modified on Tue, 19 Aug at 8:20 AM by Vocab Loco

Vocab Loco organizes word lists into a clear structure so teachers can easily find what they need. Understanding this structure helps you know where to explore and how to assign the right lists to your students.

Word List Structure

Word lists in Vocab Loco are organized into three levels:

  1. Category – the broadest level (for example: Teacher (your custom word lists), Publisher, Spelling, or Vocabulary).

  2. Group – collections of lists within a category (for example: Wonders 5th Grade).

  3. List – the individual word lists that students will actually practice (for example: U1 GR5 WK3 Inventions – List A).

So the structure looks like this:

Category → Group → Lists
Example: Publisher → Wonders 5th Grade → U1 GR5 WK3 (4 individual word lists)

Assigning Word Lists to Students:

Assigning Individual Lists vs. Whole Groups

Teachers have two ways to assign word lists in Vocab Loco:

  1. Assign the entire group

    • Example: Assign all the word lists in Wonders 5th Grade U1 GR5 WK3.

    • All lists in the group (with all list in that group) will appear for students.

  2. Assign specific lists within the group (via Schedule)

    • Example: Instead of assigning all four lists in Wonders 5th Grade U1 GR5 WK3, you can use the Schedule feature to release only List A and List B.

    • The other lists in the group will remain hidden.

How to Assign Individual Lists

  1. Go to Assign Word List.

  2. Choose the Category (ex: Publisher).

  3. Select the Group (ex: Wonders 5th Grade).

  4. Move forward to Step 4: Schedule.

    • Here you can check or uncheck individual lists.

    • Assign start and end dates for just the lists you want available to students.

  5. Click Save to finalize.

✅  Key Point:

  • Explore Lists lets you preview any list across all grades.

  • Schedule is the only way to assign specific lists within a group to students.
