A: When you assign a word list group to students, Vocab Loco lets you choose how those students access the lists inside that group. There are three modes: Progress, Schedule, and Mix. Each one controls when and in what order students can see and work on lists.
Progress
In Progress mode, students unlock lists one at a time by completing them. They must pass the test in the current list before the next one becomes available. There are no dates involved — students can work at any time, and the sequence is always List 1 → List 2 → List 3, and so on.
This mode works well when you want students to demonstrate mastery before moving on. If a student needs to be moved forward or backward manually, you can do that using the Set Current Lesson tool.
Schedule
In Schedule mode, each list has a start date and an end date. Students can only access a list during its scheduled window — before the start date it is not visible, and after the end date it becomes inaccessible. Passing is not required to move on; the next scheduled list opens on its own start date regardless of the student's score.
This mode is ideal when you want the whole class working on the same list at the same time, following a fixed weekly or monthly calendar.
Mix
Mix mode means that within the same list group, some students are on Progress and others are on Schedule. Each student has exactly one mode — never both at the same time. Mix appears automatically when you have set scheduled dates for some students but not all.
This mode is useful for classes with different pacing needs, for example when most students follow a calendar but a few need to advance at their own pace.
