How to Set a Student's Current Lesson in Vocab Loco

Created by Debra Marcinelli, Modified on Tue, 29 Apr at 9:28 AM by Debra Marcinelli

Vocab Loco activities normally follow a progressive flow — students complete each lesson and test before unlocking the next one. However, sometimes you may want a student to start on a different lesson without completing the earlier ones.
That’s where the Set Lesson feature comes in!

Follow these simple steps to set a student's starting lesson:

1️⃣ Assign the Word List

Before you can set a lesson, first assign the word list you want students to work on.

  • Go to Assign Word List.

  • Select your word list.

  • Choose your students.

  • Click Save.

✅ Once the list is assigned, the Set Lesson button will appear.

2️⃣ Click the Set Lesson Button

  • On the Assign Word Lists screen, find your class.

  • Click the Set Lesson button under the word list you just assigned.

3️⃣ Choose the Student's Lesson

  • A new window will open showing all students and numbered lessons.

  • Find the student you want to move.

  • Click the lesson number where you want them to start.

Example:
To move Jake to Lesson 3, find Jake’s name and click 3.
Jake will now begin at Lesson 3 without needing to complete Lessons 1 and 2.

4️⃣ (Optional) Set Lessons for Multiple Students at Once

Want to update several students at the same time?

  • Use the checkboxes to select multiple students.

  • Choose the lesson number from the dropdown.

  • Click Move Selected.

All selected students will immediately start at the new lesson.

*Note: Want to schedule lessons by date instead?

If you'd like to schedule when students unlock specific lessons based on a date,

✅That’s it!

With just a few clicks, you can place students exactly where they need to be and keep learning moving forward.
